Many children find it difficult to express themselves when they encounter a problem, leading to inappropriate behaviour or noticeable changes in their behaviour. This situation can be very distressing for parents and carers, especially when the child struggles to articulate their feelings or explain the issue they are facing.
This is where child hypnotherapy can make a significant difference. It begins by identifying what the child dislikes about their current situation and exploring how they would prefer to feel, think, and behave, thereby boosting the child’s self-confidence.
Each hypnotherapy session is personally tailored to address the child’s specific issue through a solution-focused approach. I employ very light hypnotic relaxation techniques that engage the child’s imagination. My methods include storytelling, role play, drawing, and teaching the child strategies to manage and overcome their issues, helping them feel more in control.
The sessions remain child-focused, ensuring that any discussions regarding the child are conducted via email or phone before and after the session. Additionally, I provide follow-up emails to monitor progress.
Most children respond remarkably well to hypnotherapy benefits for children, often requiring only 1 or 2 sessions, although some may need additional sessions for deeper-rooted problems. Hypnotherapy has proven effective for various issues, including sleeping difficulties, bullying, anxiety, self-esteem, bedwetting, behavior problems, learning challenges, exam anxiety, and even selective “fussy” eating or selective mutism. Conditions like Tourette's syndrome and tics also respond positively to therapy for children.
In academic settings, hypnotherapy has shown to aid in learning by enhancing classroom participation, concentration, study habits, attention span, memory, and alleviating mental blocks related to specific subjects.
